The turkeys arrived and are settled in the brooder eating and drinking like champs. The Boy and I moved the chicken brooder to the next section of pasture without a hitch.
It didn’t work like we planned to run the meat chickens and turkeys together. The timing just didn’t work. The chickens will be at the processor by the time the turkeys are ready for to leave the brooder. But I think it’s gonna work out just fine so maybe it wasn’t necessary to begin with. We’ll know when we move the turkeys to the tractor. They won’t have the chickens to help them navigate life. So far I don’t see much difference between a chicken-chick and a turkey-chick in either appearance or behavior.
