While planning our bathroom remodel I envisioned one of those wire soap baskets for the tub in oil rubbed bronze to match the faucet. The old-fashioned kind that hangs over the curved edge of the tub.

Those babies are expensive and with all expenses tallied there wasn’t enough room in the budget (I choose those amazing push button light switches over the soap basket) and I couldn’t bear to ask hubby to add it to the list.

Still, I needed storage at the tub. And, being the thrifty girl that I am, I created  this rustic bath tray from re-claimed wood in my stash.  I screwed two 1×2’s underneath to keep it from sliding from side to side and right off the edge of the tub. Then I waxed the entire board top and bottom with furniture wax to protect it from the moisture. I think it makes an attractive solution that had zero impact on the budget. Perfect.
